Flipping through the "Hemispheres" magazine on a flight home last week, I read a short write up on an interesting book by Julieanne Kost called "Window Seat: The Art of Digital Photography and Creative Thinking". Kost is a "senior digital-evangelist for Adobe" and spends over 200 days a year on the road. The sample photos are really great - all taken from an airplane. One of the interesting aspects of the book is that she explains the digital manipulation process she employed for each photo. Book was published in Feb, 2006 by O'Reilly Media Inc.
I recently ran across the best book that I have found so far for film photographers who are converting to digital.

LANDSCAPE AND NATURE PHOTOGRAPHY
WITH PHOTOSHOP CS2"

He had access to Ansel Adams notes. He compares the manipulation that
Ansel did to what he would do in photoshop to get the same results. Look
at it closely the next time you are in the bookstore.
A couple of years ago I signed up for the Epson Online Experience to learn more about digital printing. Julianne Kost was one of the presenters and I was quite impressed by her stuff. I'm sure anything she does in book form must be terrific.
Had a chance to meet Julianne at a NANPA seminar a couple years ago. Really neat lady! Knows her stuff... And yes, she likes taking aerials from commercial aircraft; as do I. Her "warm up" slide show preceding her seminar included several of these shots.
Over the years, I've collected some great shots of Canyonlands, Arches, Bryce and Grand Canyon - - maybe I should post a few sometime? Although, I guess a lot of the same perspective can be had via Google Earth.
J Kost is an amazing Photoshop Gal! I saw her at the Texas PPA School at Texas A&M last April 2005 and she introduced CS2. She is a whiz at it and her demos make it look sooooo easy! Oh my goodness I couldn't keep up with her demos, she cruises through it pretty fast! She is amazing.
