Well like some one else on here I have just been to Wales, Gigrin and Skomer. We went to Gigrin first, and as the weather was so bad decided to go for a drive up the Elan valley.I found these little fellows on an old fence, and managed to get a few shots from the open car window, most birds and animals seem to tolerate a car, but not its occupants!!!I was about 10feet away with a 300mm,2.8 and a D200...............
Yeah I'd be very happy with this too. Bit big in the frame for me and not the best perch for the purists, but exposure and focus is bang on and the head turn is superb.
A nice result, with a good pose from the bird, especially with his head turned slightly towards you.
The perch works fine for me.
My only nits are the bird is a liitle bit too big in the frame for me,although this is very much a personal thing, and secondly I'm undecided as to whether I like the backdrop,on one hand I find it perhaps overpowers the bird a little, but on the other hand it's a bit different and certainly makes for an overall colourful and eye-catching image.
Good job on finding one at almost eye level,I always tend to encounter them way too high up on the telephone wires
Very good Stewart - you have the Swallow beautifully lit and posed. Not too keen on the right hand background but its not always possible to get everything just right.
A decent shot. A bit too full in the frame for me too, and I would agree the background is not ideal but sometimes you have to take what you are given and except some minor imperfections. Great colour in the bird.

A swallow that can be admired. All the plumage colours showing nicely.
Cheers

Is there a look of annoyance on its face?
