On a very drizzly day, I got this with my 20D. Two horizontal images at 17mm stitched. I let the polarizer get covered with a fine spray and the exposure wasn't executed the best, but I liked the composition.

This place is incredible. Down underneath Proxy Falls itself feels like another world with the old growth trees and thick moss...

Really beautiful, Mike. I was seriously thinking of going here this last weekend. This photo has a cool perspective to it -having 2 stitched images was smart to get the wider view and more detail than one shot with a 10mm lens. You got closer to the falls as well yes ??

There's a lot of cool ambiance, color, and texture here; I'm not so sure about the composition.

I like the texture on the log in the forground. It certainly looks wet there. You've really got a nice pallete of greens with just enough red to really make them snap.

I'm a little confused by the water (?) on top of the big log.

Maybe crop a little on the left, so the detail on the waterfalls in the background ends up about 1/3 of the way from l to r? I know, you lose some of the closeup on the log....it's a tradeoff.....good image either way.

Thats a really cool shot, I like how rugged it looks. The leading lines created by the log draw your eyes in nicely.

I once hiked Proxy nearly to its source and found all sorts of beautiful cascades further up. I've certainly been through here a few times and can only imagine how surprised I would be to see another photographer standing there. I never came away with a shot of these falls though, primarily due to all the downed trees, but I like this one anyway. A busy shot, but it still works.

I agree... there is something about this that works great. I looked at it before I left the house at 4:15, and pondered it all morning.. :toast:

John, Yeah, I took a couple at a longer focal length shots, but I really wasn't impressed by them. The real fireworks are over at the main falls, but there is so much spray that it is very difficult to not get soaked and I didn't have a change of clothes...

Eric, Thanks for the cropping idea.

Sean, Good eye. I didn't see that water pouring from the top of the log. It's got to be an artifact from Autostitch. I'll have to redo this manually in PS.

Marc, I would have skipped this over, but I read another post of yours saying it was an amazing falls. I'm glad I went.

Ned, here's my idea: There are really no exact horizontal or vertical lines in this photo. Maybe that helps the cohesiveness of the many busy elements???

Jeremy, appreciate the comments. Thanks.

Works for me. The log adds a nice leading line.Sure is a lush looking place.

Its not a stitch artifact. I just looked at one of my shots of Upper Proxy that I took last year, and sure enough, its water actually fluming down over and between the two logs.
