I've just added an article to my website on Visiting the Canadian Mountain Parks.

To view, go to my website at http://www3.telus.net/avrsvr/ and click on the Articles Link, and then on the title of the article. (I'd provide a full link, but I don't think that the counter on my website would increment with that... )

Thanks Paul, that's an excellent article! I have long been dreaming of a trip to the Rockies and now it's finally happening in September. I will be re-reading your article many times until then!

I will probably post more questions in this forum as we go ahead in our trip planning, but for the time being, I'm just wondering about the hostels in the park. You mention that accommodation should be booked ahead in the summer, does that apply for September as well? My guidebook often seems to recommend that, but we try to flexible in our itinerary so we might need to find a (cheap) room at short notice.

Thanks!

I've only ever used the hostels once, and that was in October--there was no problem with space. I honestly don't know about September. I'd call and ask. All (?) the Jasper hostel bookings are done out of the one at the Whistlers, so you would only have to call one place to ask.

I certainly wouldn't count on there being space on a weekend in September, but I suspect that weeknights after Labour Day (Sept 4, this year) would be okay. But don't take my word for it--call to ask.
