I am headed to Hilton Head later today and staying until Monday or Tuesday.
If youre looking for some photo opportunities relatively close by, consider Landsford Canal State Park along the Catawba River in South Carolina. Its about 30 miles south of Charlotte. I caught the spider lilies near peak a few weeks ago, but there are still plenty of flowers out on the shoals. You WILL need a watercraft of some type; canoe, kayak, etc.
Probably hit the Parkway and see how the rhodies are coming along. I'll be off starting next Wednesday through the following Tuesday. I'll be hitting Roan Mountain to round up the usual suspects.
I'm hitting the Parkway this evening at Bernardsville up to Craggy then heading south to Graveyard area then on to the Smokies! Steve, when you hitting the road?
I plan to go to the Craggy area Monday, then Roan next Monday. Can't squeeze out any more time due to other things going on. Do any of you have any SPECIFIC suggestions for rhodie locations in the Craggy area? Certain spots that will provide rhodies along with sunset and/or sunrise? Are there usually good ops right on the side of the parkway, or are there better spots to hike to? I never have lots of time for scouting. Thanks!

Packing for camping vacation next week-Cheorkee area which will include GSMNP(hoping for both Cataloochee and Cades Cove) The BRP,and what ever mood hits me.:-)
I'll be hitting Roan next weekend, then probably sunset & sunrise either there or somewhere along the BRP - I'll be thankfull of slightly cooler temps in the Mountains compared to the Piedmont!.

Probably tomorrow morning. I thought I'd do the same, head for craggy then maybe down to Black balsam and overnight. Are you staying over?
