Yep, still waiting to get my camera back and processing older images. This one was taken in December, at sunrise after one of the colder nights I've ever spent in the NW. I was camped in the Eastern end of Washington's Tatoosh range, a full day's trek into the mountains on snowshoes and the temps were just below zero. I was hoping Rainier would appear from the clouds dramaticly, which never happened, but just as I was about to pack up the gear rays of warm light shone through the mist onto the cliffs below me. It lasted only seconds. The image has grown on me lately and I thought I'd share it.
Beautiful shot, Marc. To bad it only lasted seconds, a shot closer to that grove of trees on the Left with the soft glow behind them would really be awesome. Did you sleep in a tent for this outing ?
This is one of my homes-away-from-home. This Sierra Ultra-Light is my prefered backpacking tent but I also use a 2-person mountaineering tent, a bivy sack, a bigger summer tent and occasionally the back of my car. It's shown here at 6600 feet high in the Tatoosh range.
Man...this image is really sweet, Marc. I seriously could see this printed big, and hanging in a lodge somewhere, or some multimillion dollar home in the mountains.
Marc,
I really like the original post. I had this type of shot in mind last year but couldn't quite track it down. That light makes all the difference in the world. I only wish this was mine instead of yours.
