Hi all,

My name is JT Abraham. I am a FIB by birth, raised a cheesehead, currently (15 years) residing in Arizona who has the privilege to spend the summer in Washington. My in-laws have a place in Packwood and we'll soon be making our annual journey to escape the heat (108 tomorrow!). I've been lurking for several years and have learned an incredible amount from you all. Your work is truly inspirational!

I am really interested in getting to some new places. My hikes tend to be in the afternoon with a walk back to the car after dark. This summer I would like to get involved with the group to take my photography to a higher level and put my wife's fears about solo hiking after dark on mountains to rest. My schedule is very open.

I want to send a public thank you and acknowledgement out to someone, who like everyone in the group, demonstrates and shares their love of nature photography. Some of you may remember Mark Hudon's post several years back about the incredible wildflowers at Mt. St. Helens. I e-mailed Mark out of the blue and he responded 100 times over. Ironically, I found out that hike on the Plains of Abraham. The following year, I contacted him again and we almost put together a hike. His generosity to someone he has never met really struck me and typifies the group. This shot was from that hike a few years back.

Please do not hesitate to share your comments with me. I would like to see my photography attain the level of the forum.

Hey, Thanks, JT! Maybe this year we'll finally get together.

James,
Welcome to the forum. Mark is a good guy. The only tome he will turn on you if you tell him you frequent Starbucks. Nice first post. You sure caught the sweet light in this one. I would say lighten up the foreground just a little and crop some off the botom and to the left of the tall stump on the right. It is a nice shot as is. BTW, I've been a cheesehead since 1966.

Welcome JT! This really is some seet light! I especially like the semicircle of stumps in the forground, the way they frame the mountain. Lighten it up a bit, and I think you have a wall hanger. :toast:

Thanks for taking a look. I struggle with what to do with the stumps at the edge of the frame. I´ve cloned them out, kept them in. With the one on the bottom, do you think it would work to cut it about halfway?

Erik (I have a son Erik spelled the same way!), what are your ties to the Wisconsin?

Curtis, I know that you stomp around Packwood. If you´re not too busy sometime, it would be great to get out and photograph.

Welcome to the Pacific Northwest, you will enjoy your summer here! Many opportunities to shoot.

I am off to the Southwest for a few weeks. First to Santa Fe next week for photography, then to Flagstaff the week after to visit family.

The weather in Flagstaff should be beautiful. I cooked my eggs for breakfast on the sidewalk this morning here in Phoenix.

JT, We'll be taking our annual camping trip to Walupt Lake July 1-5. Come on down and look us up. We're actually going to have 4 photogs in the group this year (none of the post to the forum but I'm working on that).

As for the invite, that goes for everyone in the forum...

Welcome aboard to our big happy family :wavey: I like your first post, it has lots of beauty and drama to it. However, it feels a skosh tight on top to me.
