Last month I spent 4 days at Smith Rock and Painted Hills. The night before we left we finally got a real show for sunset. The weather was coming in and the light was really wild and it kept changing. Seemed like it went on forever.

This was taken from the parking lot across the canyon from Aserisk Pass.

Nice forms in the tree, very clear. I did notice a sharpen halo around the silhouettes, which could be fixed by increasing the USM radius or just add a little contrast with an s-curve (which might pull out some cloud details as well). Looks like it was breathtaking.

Curtis, It looks very firey. I like the way that interplays with the tree which appears burnt itself. I think that the tree shoudn't be centered though. It takes too much of my attention.

Curtis,
I like the conflicting sillouhetes (spelling?) between the rock formation and the tree. The color of the sky is also pretty awesom.

Same exposure, different processing. I processed this one in LAB color space. I think I like this one better...

I'm all over the skyline but I could easily loose the tree.

Dang... and that's my favorite part!

Hey Mark, Marie loves the print you did for me yesterday. We can't wait to get it framed and hung!
