Palouse Wildflowers
I just returned from two days in eastern Washington. I was a bit disappointed in the weather. Rain and/or overcast. This shot was from one of the few breaks in the clouds. Seems I have a hard time getting away from shooting flowers.

17-85mm, f/11

I'm on a crappy monitor at work, so I can only comment on the comp. This is fantastic! :toast: :toast: :toast:

Great thinking, Tim, is it a little too bright though?

Really a great composition but I wish the BG was just a tad darker so that the flowers popped a bit more. But this is lovely....

Thanks guys. Hmmm....interresting, I worked to brighten the background and give it life. I had not considered keeping it dark so the flowers would have more separation. I will go back and look at it again. Thanks.

I appreciate the comments. I think this is much better.

This is beautiful Tim, I think I prefer the darker version.

I like the darker version better also.

Tim,
I really like this. This has your style written all over it with the pose of the large flower on the right. I too like the reworked version.

yep, the repost is nicer...

Interesting eye-catching image. Unique composition with the tall flower reaching to the clouds. Looks like it's shot from the lower level of Steptoe Butte. I'm a bit amazed how you captured the tall flower in sharp focus, since it's generally windy there. As mentioned, the darker version looks more pleasing to me as well.

Very cool, as usual Tim. Sorry to hear about your weather. At least you got to scout things out...

Tim,

Very awesome image!! I would guess Saturday or Sunday afternoon. I was there but missed connections with all of you. On my monitor your image looks a bit too yellow in the greens. My monitor is calibrated but it could just be my eyes. Now I'm not a digital camera user but with F11 is your apparent film speed around 125?

Actually, Saturday was an awesome day in my book. Certainly some challenges with uncooperative sunlight and clouds. But, I found some wonderful light in the morning and the evening with the thunderheads and the gorgious light was by far one of my more rewarding experiences for image making. Sunday morning sunrise was also quite good. No images to show yet as I use a 4x5 field view for my work. Perhaps by the weekend I will find out what level of success I had. I would love to be back there when the wheat all heads out and then ripens. And, what a sight it must be when the pee fields flower.

All in all a great three days and a beautiful ride over and back. And I got a great view of all the Ice Age Flood topography!

Uh, actually I meant to say the pea fields!!!

Flowering pea fields might be a problem this year.. Yesterday(6/13) we had a hail storm the trashed 80-90% of the peas.. They were just about to flower.. Now they are mashed flat..
This is a great shot btw,,,
