Hi,

I have sent an email to everyone that responded to my previous post, if I have missed anyone please accept my sincere apologies, I am not very good at expressing myself on a personal level so I also hope that my sentiments come across right...

Over the weekend I spent time with my six year old grandson (he of deer photography fame) also visited my mentor and spent some time shooting. I gave a lot of thought to my predicament, simply put I was suddenly plunged into financial difficulty by a close relations actions, in the 'heat of the moment' I foolishly thought the quickest and easiest route was the sale of my equipment, thanks to all the support I have recieved I now realise how wrong and stupid I was.

I have spent a lot of time prioritising things, like do I need to replace my three year old car this year, it is regularly serviced so should last me a couple of years more and postponing a couple of trips that would have been nice but not essential, I have moved some things up, I am in the process of authoring a book (more later in another post), this was to have been a museum publication, but as no formal contract has been entered I am free to look at other publishers (if the museum publishes I get no reward :frown: ).

Anyway enough of waffling, the main reason I have decided not to go down the foolish path of selling is the amount of support I have recieved from the wonderful forum, and from the many wonderful people who, although I have never met most of you, I hope I can truly call friends...

And I couldn't leave Tim with no competition in the Close up/macro field could I!

So finally a huge big thankyou to all of you, each and everyone of you are special..

Hi Phil

That's great news. I am glad you took some time out to take stock of your situation and realise flogging your camera gear was not the best option.

That has cheered me up on a Monday morning in the office.

cheers

Sean :toast:

p.s. Good luck with the book project too

Hi Phil,

Really pleased to hear you've found a way to resolve your situation without resorting to the sale of your gear.

Your friendly, informative and professional input would have been a real big loss to the forum.

Pleased to hear your able to continue with your much loved passion.

Hi, great news, sorry to hear of your situation, hope everything works out, it would be a big blow to loose your input and insight on this forum, i know i'm not a "regular" but you have been very gracious and helped me a few times with critique and identification.

PS tell us when your book comes out :)

Hello Phil
I have been away for a few days so have just become aware of recent happenings.
Thanks God you are not selling your equipment or leaving this site, I for one, have learnt a great deal from reading all your posts and have always looked upon you as "The Master". It was also a great pleasure to have met you last year and I offer you a big vote of thanks for answering many of my questions.
With Very Best Wishes

Hi Phil,

That's great news! Sorry I have had my head burried in the macro-world for a couple of weeks (trying to compete with you and Tim! ) and have read all your messages with great concern.
Its brilliant news that you are staying with us and can continue with your skillful portrayal of the natural world. Although I am not a long serving member, I can say quite freely that you have been consistantly one of the best photographers and greatest contributors to this forum. Long may it continue... :toast:

Hi Phil, never replied to your previous woes cos i didn't know you, and didn't know how to. I hate how money rules our lives. Live like me with none - it's really not so bad!! Glad everythings a little clearer now.

Cheers,
