Next Years Damsel Flys in the making
Haven't done too much photography lately due to ill health, but did make it down the local pond today, plenty of Dragonflies about but too quick for me at the moment so settled on the damsel fly's doing what comes naturaly

Canon 20D, Canon 100mm~400mm IS , @ 400mm ISO 400 1/1600 sec @ f6.3

As said classic image of these mating damsels (Azures I think, but difficult to tell without being able to see certain features, at least for me :frown: )

Shame about the bright reeds/grasses in the bg but not a lot you do without disturbing your subjects.

Hi Barrie, I'm impressed that you can make this kind of macro-work with the 100-400. I might start to exercise my zoom this way

Hi Barrie

A great behavioural and macro shot. Background is acceptable if not ideal but fine in the circumstances. I am impressed how close the 100-400 can focus.

Hi Barrie
Agree with the minor nits, but still a very nice image to add to your collection. :toast:

Nicely captured behaviour Barry.
Shame about the slightly distracting reeds in the background but conditions are often not ideal and looks like you've still achieved a good result.

Nice image Barry. I realise you have very little control on the background and as has already been noted the bright areas are a little uunfortunate - but certainly an image I would be very proud of!

Lovely classic shot Barry. Just wondering whether a slight wash with a suitable green might minimise the bright background of the blue damsel.
