This gorgeous, freshly emerged Elephant Hawkmoth was just too tempting to pass by!

Wow.I'm just on my way out the door and this appears. Too good to pass by w/o comment.

Did you place the moth on the iris? or was this as found?

Hi Clive

A great composition, it's a great shot of a yellow iris too, what a great specimen.

:toast:

cheers

Sean

p.s. Did you move in a bit closer and take some moth only images?

You bet, it was amazingly patient despite 29C temperatures so I got a load of shots including 1:1's of wing details too - will post some soon!

This is extremely beautiful, but as noted it is too pure and so feels unnatural, however stonking stuff all said.

Clive....

This is simply stunning, I like the colour combination and the composition, I know you have admitted to placing the moth, which is not normally my cup of tea but you have achieved a magnificent result here...

Stunning... really. I'm glad you posted the habitat shot as its so easy to be taken in (and zoom in) with such a beautiful little creature. Well done for having the composure and peice of mind to think about what you wanted to acheive here. It shows :toast:
