Golden oriole
I have just returned from a 4 day bird photography trip to Eastern europe and in my book this has been one of the best trip i have ever done.

The highlight was photographing Golden oriole. In my book one of the most difficult european bird species to photograph. They always spend most if not all of their time high up in the canopy of trees. So in order to photograph them there was only one thing to do; get up there with them!

Hi Rene,

Pleased to hear you've had a rewarding trip

This is a species I'm not familiar with so I can't appreciate just how tricky they are to get good shots of,but what a cracking result you've got here.

A stunning shot in beautiful light of a gorgeous looking species.

Very much look forward to seeing some more images from your trip.

Cracking looking bird, and I am guessing not an easy one to photograph... I think the softness is down to shake, either excitment  or most probably because of the difficulties involved the camera support wasn't set to its most stable, its difficult to say as you don't give exposure details.

But it is a great shot to get and I can understand why it was a highlight of your trip.

Nice

The bill and eye look pin sharp to me, the body and feet are slightly OOF thats all?

Fantastic capture, only a few sites in UK where these breed nowadays with the bulk in East Anglia - definately a case of going to Europe if you want to photograph one!

The new image looks a little over sharpened? Background now looks grainy. It's a great bird to see so maybe a job for selective sharpening. Looks as though that should be fairly easy given the background to the bird and branch.

Or I could be wrong.

Pretty bird, pity that they aren't so common in the uk now :frown:.
