Damselfly. Found a spot with a good number of these, this is a detail from a large pic, I'm still loving the cropability of the D2X.

Cheers

Very nice Tim.
I'm always fascinated by these beautiful creatures, especially when seen up close and in such good detail as this.
Impressive quality and sharpness.
I like the raised leg, looks like he's just about to wipe his eye.

This is a lovely image Tim. I really like the grooming action. Great uncluttered bg as well. :toast:

Hi Tim,

Not normally my cuppa getting this close, but in this case I think you were justified, the colours etc of these large reds is spectacular when seen close, a touch less so when seen from further away..

I think I would have prefered for the plane of focus to be slightly further into the subject or for slightly more DoF, not always easy I know.... remember DoF at these sorts of mags is roughly 1/2 and 1/2 not 1/3in 2/3out.....

Hi Tim,this is excellent with amazing detail ,I will be spending a lot of time myself trying to capture these, hope mine turn out as good as yours.

Hi Barrie, I have a set of extensions and yes I use them and that depends on how much magnification I want.
With extensions your depth of field is reduced, this can be used to your advantage of course.
Damsels are addictive, but can drive you nuts as any sudden movement and off the buggers go.

Hello Tim
Very, very nice, and the front legs in that position are just perfect.
Best wishes
