Bumble Bee
Not been active for the last few weeks due to
a) Having no camera as I dropped mine in the pond!
b) new job taking a bit of time.

New 30D duly delivered but whilst Canon are drying out the 300 I'm having to concentrate on macro stuff!

Bumble Bee (Bombus hypnorum) in my Leylandii hedge this evening.

Canon 30D
100mm f2.8 Macro
ISO 100
580 EX
1/250th @ f16

as ever - comments welcome

Wow,that's close.
Striking close-up and very well composed with the bee towards the top of the frame working a treat.
That yellowy-orangy hair really grabs your attention.

Fancy dropping your camera in a pond, that's not the way to clean your sensor, still full marks for finding good excuse to get new camera.
Interesting view of a bumble bee, good eye detail. Not sure on lighting technique.

Thanks Tim - keeping a healthy distance from the pond at the moment! Yes, I realise the lighting is less than perfect - I have only recently started using flash and have a whole lot more to learn about flash photography with macro subjects - especially as I can't afford a ring flash or specialised macro unit - yet!

Very interesting perspective Dennis - what massive eyes and great detail - looks like the bee needs to clean his sensors - got pollen on them
