Great Crested Grebes #5
20D, 400/2.8 + 2x, ISO200, 1/500 @ f10, EV -2/3, Gitzo 500 + 393, C1pro + CS2.

Hi,

Took a trip to check out the Grebes and they have hatched three youngsters, unfortunately they have deserted the nest area and headed out to the middle of the lake :frown:

Had a lucky 30mins when the local fishing club started clearing the swims for the new season and the grebes escaped to near my camera position.

Conditions not ideal with very harsh sunlight, but happy to get a few images of the 'family'

All the best

I have been to the grebes on Lake Geneva early today but it has such large reed beds that you cant see the nests only hear the din coming from them,No adults with chicks out on the lake yet-would like an image like this very much :toast:

Always love those stripey chicks

Another cracking shot for your Grebe collection Phil.

I particularly like the way both birds are looking the same way and also the one raised, and one lowered head works superbly.

Hi Phil

Super shot - love the interaction. Very minor nit - for presentation I would have cropped a little more from the FG!

Nice to see a picture of 2 birds, not always that easy but you pulled it off and its a very good image!
