My name is Rich Voninski. I am a Coloradan and regular CNP/RMNPer and will be in your territory 8/9-8/16. I will be flying into SF and heading north up to the redwoods. I am primarily an LF photographer and work a lot of B/W film. But also shoot a 5D.
I am looking for you guys/gals to give me some suggestions for a possible itenary given my time of year and locations. I would like to hit waterfalls, coastal landscapes, redwoods. I have never been to Crater Lake and was toying with that too. I know, as usual I have more that I would like to do then available time. I would not be opposed to heading as far north as Portland but that would probably be about it.
If anybody is available around that time they are welcome to join me.
The attached picture is one of my 1st LF shots ever and was shot at Multnomah Falls a few years ago. Awesome area!
Thanks in advance!

I might be able to join you that weekend, but I can't know yet. I don't know southern oregon as well as most folks here, so I'm not much help in that area, but give us a reminder when you're on your way. I'd love to try to meet up with you.
Consider driving up to the Bend/Redmond area (Hwy 97) for Newberry National Volcanic Monument (only 15minutes east of La Pine), Smith Rock, and Painted Hills. Although if I had a choice, I'd probably do Crater Lake, mainly because it's closer and if you've never been there, well, you need to go there...

THAT close to Yosemite...I'd consider looking there if you've never been with a camera. Other than that, the gorge is a must do...however, depending on how much rain we have then, the moss may be yellow and becoming dried out. Silver Falls State Park, east of Salem approx 30 minutes is a great route for waterfalls. I think they've got 10 in the loop.
As far as coastal landscapes, Ecola State Park, and Cape Kiwanda are two great places to visit.
Looking forward to meeting you next week Rich!
oh, yeah...the image...I was looking at this comp on saturday, but I went up in the gorge w/o my camera because I just wanted to enjoy the place that way for once. This works real nice as a B/W
I was thinking of heading to Yosemite. But 3 things cross my mind 1) summer crowds, 2) living in Colorado I am a little bit away from massive vegetation growth, water and oceans so I am leaning towards Redwoods, coast and forest/waterfalls and 3) last time i visited the redwoods would be when I was 6 years old which was ummmmmm just a few years ago (yea that sounds right!)
What are must see's in central to southern oregon? Do any of you have Redwoods recommendations?
Still planning everything and will share my plans as I start to get some details together. I hope to get together with a few of you to hit some of these awesome places I keep seeing come up over and over agin on this site!
