Rainier B&W
This shot was taken this weekend shooting over the frozen Reflection Lakes. I thought it made for a nice conversion.

A very nice (and new) take on a very familiar subject. Nice job.

Yeah, Kevin, like this. The curved line leading into the mountain is great.

Very nice work. The comp leads me in and keeps me wandering around the image. Is this digital? you got really nice contrast on this... :toast:

Beauiful, Kevin ! I love the tonal range of your conversion - only question is - is it level ? I feel a bit of a lean to the left and I'd expect the lake to be more level than it appears.... I noitce you got the clear sky version of the mountain again..... someday you'll be there with the best clouds ever, I know it !!

Very nice work Kevin. Clearly, the icy lines make the shot. The contrasts work very well in the B&W medium.

thanks for the comments. Yes Curtis, it is digital (20D, 17-40). It's a blend of three different exposures-one main exposure, one to tone down the light on the mountain only, and a third for the trees to lighten them up a bit and bring out some detail. John, I believe it is level. I'd have to compare it to other shots from here to be sure, but I had a bubble level on my hot shoe-without it, I would guarantee you it would lean hard to the left! And yes, I'm still waiting for a nice sky there-but I'm going to keep trying

Unusual view of Reflection Lake. At first I thought it was a view across a creek or river.
Guess the current in the lake, melting the ice, created the s curve. The b&w conversion works well, in my opinion.

Kevin,
You did a good job with the blends to achieve the DR. Along with the nice composition with the s curve in the foreground, I have a feeling this will be printed.
