Mysterious Gorge Light
This is from the trip Jeremy and I took into Oneonta last week, I like the perspective and light.

Man..that is Sahweet! The green light on the water is just awesome. I also like the way you brought out the color in the rocks. Beautiful! :toast:

The moss on the canyon walls are just glowing! The green reflection is very nice as well. Well done.

Lucky for me, the polarizer did most of the color enhancement, I just blended 2 exposures to paint in what little detail there was in the shadows. This one keeps growig on me.

I like the slant angles of the walls - makes for a very powerful landscape to look thru... only comment is it seems a bit late by the looks of the light. If you were there really early, would the back light be more level? I'm thinking to visit here maybe on Thursday and curious if being there at 7 or 8 am would be worthwhile.

Really nice, Zack.

One of the best shots I've seen of Oneonta Gorge. Great capture.

the red rocks and colored reflection is nice, but that doorway you made with the comp is what makes my eye drawn in here. Nice Zack.

Zack, it's nice, but it's an "is what it is" shot, meaning it's a "this is what I saw when I was there" shot.
The top half is totally standard (and I don't really like it actually) but the bottom half is wonderful! How about giving me a hint of the top half by working the wonderful stuff in the bottom half? The shot may still say "Oneonta Gorge" but I think you would be involving the viewer more and creating a more compelling image.

I really like Mark's suggestion. Even a square crop gives this a completely different look.

Here is another crop I was working on as well, It's similar to what Mark was talking about, let me know what you think.

Aside from it being a little dark in shadows, Which could be lightened slightly, I think it's the best one of the gorge I've seen this year. Nice work. :toast:

It's better but I think cropping down to a bit below that "nose" would be the ticket.

See what I'm saying? The photo still says "Oneonta Gorge" but it doesn't hit you in the face with it. My eye is led to the light and my imagination takes over from there.

Erik's running a little test to see how many photographers will run out and shoot this tomorrow, after saying that  :wavey:

(meet you there :jump: )

Good one, Rick.. I like the second crop a lot, Zack.. mysterious and draws me right in wondering what is beyond.. :toast:

Just for #@%*s and giggles I thought I'd post this version which is really what Mark is talking about. I definitely see what you mean Mark, I like them all for different reasons, but agree this one makes for a very compelling and much more engaging and mysterious image. Thanks for all the feedback.

The last version, Zack, really tells the story best.

Zack, this is really cool. The latest crop really makes the reflections in the water the primary story. :toast:
