Here is an example of a photo that I like but haven't showed anyone because it seems to far out of the norm. I can't explain why I like it, maybe I am just emotionally attached to it. I cant think of any reason you could ever use this photo for anything.
You're right Tim - it's not your normal everyday sunrise shot, but I like it too. I like how the road winds down the hill out of sight, and how the hills are shown in the BG. I might consider cropping the very top and bottom just a tad. Some of the gravel is getting blown out, and a white sky is always my enemy. Overall though, I think it's a cool shot. Thanks for posting.
Tim, I think an 8x10 crop is the ticket here. The top and bottom does have "too extreme" lighting. Other than that I really like it. I really like how the shape of the treeline inversely mirrors the mountain.

I can only agree with what Bill and Dominic have suggested - perhaps even going as far as darkening the right side pines in the lower right to match the tonality fo the lower left. Just a suggestion, though. I think it's a rpetty cool image! Thanks for posting!
I like the feel of it too. Gives me the feel of driving there, as the apparent headlight illumination in the foreground suggests. Makes one think of driving into a spot at sunrise or out at sunset. Reminds me of several of my outings where I was thinking. "Dangit! I'd better hurry or I'm gonna miss the moment..."
I do think some slight cropping is a good idea as well.
