After some searching, discovered these two pristine bitterroot wildflowers growing out of the rocky desert ground in Eastern Washington. I liked the contrast of the delicate pastel petals, juxtaposed with the harsh ground.

Great colors and sharpness, Harald.

The flower color and clarity are great!

As already mentioned the flower detail and color are tremendous. I'ld be tempted to crop out the branch protruding into the top of the frame as its presence and color keep pulling my eye away from the flowers.

Just a short thanks for the comments and Mark's suggestion. Also thanks again Mearle for your update to the forum about the bitterroot flowers by Ellensburg, Wa.

Harald,
I think this shot would be KILLER if the rocks were in perfect focus and with a little more contrast. Since the flowers are so awesome, I think you still have a winner.

Erik,
Thanks for your thoughts. Luckily I do have a version where the rocks are a bit sharper, shot at f22. This one was f16. Guess I'll scan the other one sometime, and compare them.

Harold, I agree with Eric. More, or maybe even less focus on the rocks and it would be even better. The sharpness of the flowers is great.
