I'm getting ready to put together my website and will use FrontPage for it's simplicity and low cost. Where is the best place to buy it and can someone recomend a good book on it and one on general web building.
Thanks,
Bill

I believe it's packaged with certain packages of Microsoft Office, I'd read the packaging to be sure.
FrontPage is no longer part of any of the MS Suite packages. It can be purchased from most reputable software vendors.
Assuming you are using WinXP, you'll want FrontPage 2003.
Since you plan to use FrontPage, be sure to check with your web host to see if they will install the FrontPage Server Extensions to your server, if they have not already done so. The 'extensions' are required for certain web components such as 'mouse-over's'. A real boon to having the extensions is that you can save your work directly to your site without having to use a third-party FTP application.
As far as books: There are some out there, including one from Micrsoft Press. However, given the extensive help files and the learning content at Microsoft's site, I haven't really researched the printed books.
Not sure if you bought Front Page yet but you could check ebay. Sometimes I get great prices on new software there. Regarding a great book on design, I just purchased "Photographer's Guide to Web Site Design" for $29.95. It's an ebook by a web designer that has built several professional sites. Check it out at http://www.guidetowebsitedesign.net/reviews.html.
I'm in process of building a web site myself. Good luck.
I'd just like to add a cautionary note regarding discounted software. With so much pirated software out there, be sure you get a genuine MS FrontPage CD with the product code from a reputable vendor. In some cases that I have heard about from IT techs, some discount CD's are burned with less than optimum quality control and the programs will either fail to install properly or cause system issues. Also, a poor, or pirated copy may not 'activate'. You will have wasted your money and time.
We all like to save money, however we must be on the alert for fraud. Remember: "If it sounds to good to be true, it probably is."
