Skyscape
The landscape looking towards St. Helens from the Goat rocks, two years ago today. I particularly liked how the layers of hills were repeated in the sky. Canon EOS-3, Tamron 24-135 at 135mm, probably some amount of grad filter, Fuji Velvia 50.

Great atmospheric view. The small puffy cloud above St. Helens stands out. It could be steam spewed out by the volcano.

This is great, Marc. I'm not sure I see the hills repeated, but there's a lot of nice texture up there. I particularly like the clouds below the horizion. That's always a subtle hint about how high you were when you took the shot.

How far out of the frame is Adams?

You're right - the hills are not "repeated" exactly, but the layered sky complimented the layered hills nicely. Adams was quite a bit out of the frame to the left. This was taken from 8000 feet in elevation near the summit of Mt. Curtis Gilbert. Harald - yes, I believe it was steam from the volcano.

Wonderful film tones here - really a noticable difference between digital and film to me anymore. I love each for different reasons. Great light on St. Helens !

Beautiful colors and layers. However I would prefer to see more in the fg to anchor it.

Yep. I always like foreground, but sometimes it's just not happening. Glaciers make really poor foregrounds.

Mount Adams, just a little to the East.

And just to complete the 360 degree view that evening, Rainier, to the North behind me.

The last one is the best, I think.

I like em all. But if I had to choose, it would be the first one. I love the sliver of light hitting the mountain.
