Hi all
I am headed to Sheridan WY next week and would love any hints as to where to go for sunrise, sunset landscapes, wildflowers, and animals. I will have morning and eve hours to photo, the rest of the time at a conference so wil not be able to do all day hikes. Any advice would be great.
Joyce, I notioced that there were no replys to your post. I am not familiar with the area. Is it near a bigger town or city?

thanks for your note. It is near Big Horn National Forest, that's about all I know, someone from another forum said it was in the middle of nowhere. I will probably drive around the back roads and find some hiking trails.

Joyce--
I used to cover that area, and it's not close to anything. That means it is perfect! Get ahold of an official state map--the kind they give away for free at the state borders, and look for a road that heads towards the Bighorn Mountains. Or if you're adventurous, (like me,) head east on the gravel roads that goes towards Ulm. I wouldn't be afraid to venture off the beaten path in that part of Wyoming--it's pretty safe. I don't even bother to take my keys out of the ignition out there when I park. The tiny towns are interesting. I question if you'll find any wildflowers this time of year--the area is in a drought. Might be some west, towards the mountains. I've never seen any hiking trails in that region--most tourists head on towards Yellowstone and the locals mostly don't hike if they can help it. This is a ranching area, not a tourist area. Why not just take photos of what you find rather than having a preconceived idea? It's likely going to be so different than what you're used to anyway. Take advantage of that. Again, the entire region here is fairly safe, even for women traveling alone. Just remember that in small towns, the gas stations close at 5 PM.
