Hi Barry, welcome and a good first posting. Whilst the whites are blown on the breast, I don't think it spoils this image at all.. I don't know if it was a conscious decision to post it this way, but it works for me. It is however a bit central in the frame for me and I'd prefer to see this cropped a bit on the left with a bit more on the right possibly. Good exposure on the head as the whites look spot on.
Hi Barry,
Welcome to the forum and a very nice puffin portrait as a first post.
The even lighting is nice and makes a change from the often harsh un-flattering light we often have to contend with at this time of year.
The whites look OK on my screen with the white breast feathers probably as close to the edge of the histogram as possible but without losing all detail.
Hello Barry
A warm welcome from me too. I have to agree with Justin about the whites, I think you have got the exposure dead right. Altogether a very nice image.
Best wishes
Phil

Hi Barry
Super portrait - great first post. I think your exp. was spot on and you could if you wanted to selectively tone down the breast!
Welcome Barry-Very nice first post look forward to more

Hello Barry, welcome to the forum. A beautiful portrait of a puffin. The detail is excellent. I haven't a problem with the white breast as some detail remains.
