Hey all,
I was vacationing in Cherokee and perched at an overlook on the Blue Ridge Parkway for sunset on 6/15/06 close to 9 pm when the 3.1 magnitude earth quake rolled through-My first! The rest of my tribe was in the vehicle probably fussing and fighting when I heard a loud rumble rolling towards me then it vibrated under my feet for about 2 seconds and then was gone. I can only imagine the look on my face as I looked back over my shoulder towards the car half expecting a landslide or something. It was very similar to standing on an over pass bridge when a 18 wheeled transfer truck drives across but without knowing what is causing the rumble and shake. Anyone else feel it?
I haven't heard about it either, but years ago in Tryon, NC we had a mild quake. Has this been reported in the news? I'm not good at keeping up with it.
I felt a quake before, in Vermont. Funny kind of back and forth motion. And I wasn't drinkin.

Shaking in the Smokies
It was reported in the Charlotte Observer - I used it as proof to my family that it wasn't "just me". It is the 7th since March 2005 but they are mild and spaced enough apart to be unrelated to a single worrisome fault line.
I heard about it on the Charlotte news & in the Observer Leann!. Glad it didn't knock you off your feet!!.

Me too! I was put in my place though by a co- worker who is a California native :it is not a "real" one until it does knock you off balance physically-menatally doesn't count.
