Found myself a new playground while a friend and I were hiking up in the Gifford Pinchot Forest. We hiked along Siouxon Creek all the way up to these falls. There are about 6 waterfalls along the way and the scenery is just beautiful (Ned, you would go crazy over the ferns here) There really is lots and lots to photograph and I have only begun the editing process but wanted to post this for ya to critique for me... Yes, I know the leaves on the bottom and sides are moving but it was windy with the mist blowing off the falls.....
Cool shot! I am hiking Siouxon Creek tomorrow, look like it is good. How far back are these falls? The trial goes back like 11 miles I read somewhere....?

Jeremy, The trail actually goes 9 miles up....if you start at the very top then its 11 miles....we only hiked 4.7 each way....the full 11 miles each way would be great for Mtn biking.....
You will love it...t.here is tons to photograph...I shot almost 2 gig today...if ya ever wanna get together on the weekends and go hiking up around there just let me know!
So is wildcat falls up beyond the bridge and how far? When I was there last year I had my boy on my back and didn't feel much like going farther, plus it was getting late.

yeah ya go past the bridge and then you will come to an area where there is a falls (not sure the name) and the trail continues on the other side of the river/creek...so you will have to get your feet wet....and I just learned that this image I have posted is not wildcat falls....after doing some extensive mapping I now know this is Chinook falls, sorry for the error!!....the trails do not really list the names of the falls.....I found this out from my waterfall book....
good luck tomorrow and go early if you can.......there is an overhead canopy of trees for difused lighting and its pretty amazing... can't wait to see your shots!!
This is nice, Darren! I wonder if there's any logs or stones or flowers nearby. How far is this from Portland?

Kevin, its about an hour and 20 min....I was thinking of getting a group together and meeting up here in Battle Ground and then going up for a shoot....the whole area is incredible and I know you and Ned and Tim would die for the fern cover there......and the water falls are very very easy to access.....except one and I dont know the name but I will post a shot of it here later tonight....
