I threw another banner up on the site. You like or don't like it, try again or would there be any interest in a banner contest? Let me know what as the forum members would like.
Thanks for your efforts to update the banner David! I know it takes a lot of time and energy to get something together like that.
I do like your other suggestions though. In looking at the other regional banners, I think the RMNP and Southeast have the most appeal to me. What would everyone think about nominating images that have been posted (or new ones), and then voting on one image from each state represented? Then take those five and do an interesting collage. Just a suggestion...

I like where your going with this suggestion Bill and I think a number between 3-5 images in a collage format would be nice. I too like the SENP banner and wouldn't mind mimicking it loosely. Thanks for the suggestion. Keep up the good work Dave!

I think something along those lines would work, and it's time for a change. Thanks for getting this going!
I think this is definitely the route to go. And we are do for the update. I like the SENP banner.
Thanks, too, for all your hard work. This is a great community to be a part of.

David I re-read your post and I guess I missed this or something but I don't see any new banner. Am I missing something?
Also, how should we go about selecting the images for voting consideration? Should everyone select their personal favorites, say 5 images and then you either pick the ones suggested most often for the vote or just use the ones selected the most? What suggestions do others have?

Wayne - I believe you'll need to refresh your page with F5 or "view->refresh" in order to see the new banner.
Good question Wayne - how to vote? What about this: everyone rank their five favorite images. First choice has a value of five points, second choice is worth four points, third choice is worth three, and so on...Then the five highest scoring photographs are the winners. The photographers owning the winning images will need to email jpegs to those wanting to compete for the best design. Any thoughts/suggestions?
I think that's a good idea Mark. To keep this from getting too complicated, why not let everyone use their own images (or not), and make their best banner. David - are there any guidelines for banner dimensions?
To answer Bill's question here are the banner demensions.
720 width
120 height
125KB for the file size

OK - here's a quick take on the idea. Ideally it would encompass images from each state instead of the few images I borrowed from the forum. This idea didn't seem to be gaining traction so I thought I'd kick it a little.

Kick away Tim! Nice "quick" take on the banner. I like it. BTW, who in the world would know which one of these photos is of Kansas? I'm not telling ......... but I know you know!
p.s. this is gorgeous, great blending of colors during the image transitions. Looks like you have the job if we're voting!
Looks pretty darn good to me too, especially that Deptford Pink image! ha ha! And I certainly remember which one is from Kansas - one of the places I hope to get around to visiting this summer. Thanks for getting the ball rolling Tim.
David - Should we start a new thread for entries? What about a deadline to enter?
Bill, I think we should start a new thread to post the banners into, htey might get lost in this thread. When to set a deadline? How about July 10th? To soon or to far out, will everyone have time to try there hand at being creative?
