Sorry no photos, but I do have what seems like several tons of Utah sand stuck in my tripod, mainly in the grease and behind the knobs of my 410 geared head. I'm looking for suggestions on ways to remove this, before it starts wearing on the parts.

Thanks

I had the same problem in April, I had to take everything apart and clean it all off. The main issue I had was with my ballhead, what a pain.

That's a big part of why I replaced by Kirk head with an Acratech - the open design is pretty much immune to sand and grit getting stuck in there.

Like Guy indicated, I like the Acratech because I've yet to have worry about it getting dirty. The thing is great for rough conditions, and I can live with the little bit of awkwardness of the unconventional design for the reason.
