I am heading out to Dinosaur NM this weekend to meet some friends/photographers. I am planning to leave early Thursday afternoon. Should be nice and toasty this weekend!!!

Can anyone recommend the best way to get to the Gates of Lodore area from West Denver?

If anyone is in the area and wants to meet up shoot me an email.

Rene, have fun!! Wish I could join you, but it's our anniversary this weekend, so maybe I better stay in town!

Can't tell you much about Dinosaur as I haven't been there since I was 5! But check out Darren's Hot Spots write up for a bunch of info. Of course we both know that Darren doesn't know what the heck he's talking about!!

Take I-70 to Hwy 40 at Empire or Hwy 9 at Silverthorne (faster). 9 meets up with 40 in Kremmling. Take 40 on West straight through Steamboat and Craig to Maybell. At the west end of Maybell take Hwy 318 towards Browns Park. Don't know exact mileage but about 35 miles west from there will be a sign for The Gates of Lodore and 34 Rd. It (34)will go south just a bit but then back to the northwest and parallels the highway for a few miles then back south to the Gates.
Should be toasty!
I'm heading south into the Flattops for some fishin' & photos. Have fun!

Rene:

You may want to get the newest Photograph America Newsletter. Although he doesn't have it listed on his site yet, it just came out yesterday and it covers Fantasy Canyon and Dinosaur NM.

In case you haven't seen it before, the Newsletter does a really nice job of covering the subject areas. Robert Hitchman describes the places to photograph, the places to stay, the local restaurants, and much more.

Have a great trip,

Thanks for the info, guys.

Brent – what better place to spend your anniversary than in a place with lots of sand water and sunshine?

Darren? Darren who?
