Has anyone used one of these and what do you think. Especially compared to 100-400 canon, which I have.

I used to have one & i have to say its not a bad lens, price is reasonable, but it does have its limitations.
I found the AF was noisy & fairly slow. It needs good light to perform well & it is best stopped down a bit. If you take all this into consideration it can produce stunning results as proved by many, especially on some of the other forums. I don't have any experience of the canon as i have always used nikon bodies. Definitley one to consider if you after a long zoom.
Regards Rob.
