Well, I posted this over on the travel side of NPN (TPN) but thought that it might hold some interest for some of you landscape and waterfall people...

This is the B-24G Liberator named Witchcraft that the Wings of Freedom tour brought to the Aurora airport here in Oregon. After getting the shot of the B-17 while photographing flesh and blood birds I decided to drive to the airport and did so on the day that they departed.

This shot is of Witchcraft as she was departing the Aurora airport for good. People had mentioned for my last shot that they would like to see blurred props rather than motion-frozen ones. So, for this shot I brought down the shutter speed to 1/250 which did the trick but also meant that I had to use f/11 for my aperture. This made the background trees all in focus too which I felt detracted from the main subject so I hope the viewers don't mind too much if I took the liberty of blurring the background artificially in PSCS2.

20D, 70-200/4L lens @ 113mm, 1/250 @ f11, ISO 100, EC -1/3

Cool shot - love the detail and color from the 70-200 lens.

yes great shot......but because of the compression and size it almost looks like a toy to me...would like to see it larger!

the color and comp are right on!

I thought and still do think that this is a scaled down RC plane...Come on Geoff...you pulling our leg?

Haha, you guys are funny! An R/C plane, eh? Actually, I'd love an R/C model of this baby although my R/C prowess is so poor that I am sure to crash it on the first flight...

Anyways, this additional shot should prove to you that this is the real thing since there are actual people seen in the plane. These are not play action figures stuck in an R/C model!!

congrats on the first shot then because from where I am sitting it sure does look like a small toy plane....glad I am not the only one who thought that!!!

Darren, the truth is that if this had been an R/C model there's probably no way I would have been able to get that first shot. Those models are too fast for their size and I probably wouldn't have been able to track it long enough to focus well on it (well, perhaps if I owned a 1DMkII I could have, but I'm betting not with my 20D)!

amazing...that plane is just perfect. it looks like it just rolled off the assembly line, or out of the box

Rick, I'm betting that since they (the foundation that owns it) tours the country with it and the crew stakes their lives on its worthiness, that they keep it in absolutely tiptop shape.

BTW, here is their website.
