Just came across this...thought others might be interested. Canon is sponsoring a National Park photo contest. First place receives a 5D and a Pixma Pro9500.
Actually, it kind of makes sense. If you win the grand prize then you must have a good camera. If you come up just shy its probably because you need a better camera!!

Closer investigation of the rules shows two categories Landscape and Wildlife each yielding First Place winners of which one will be also be declared the Grand Prize winner based on number of votes.
Actually I looked at it again, and they'll choose the grand prize winner from the 2 first prizers. Rock on. A nice 5D kit AND a trip to a park of your limited choice.

Good luck!
Grand prize - trip for 2 to a national park value $2500
First prize - 5D, 24-105 LIS, pixma 9500 - value $5522.99
Second Prize - 30D EF-S 17-85 IS, Pixma 9500 $2823.99
Does it seem odd that the first AND second prizes are both worth more than the grand prize?
