Taken last October in Rocky Mountain National Park this scene is a sunrise image of Long's Peak from Bear Lake. I have been on the fence about this one for some time so I would like some expert opinions on this image from my fellow CSNP members. Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

Wayne, I think the composition is excellent! The sunlit trees partially shaded at the bottom and the peak beyond the trees all come together very well. The upper left corner distracts me a bit with its "hot spots." I could also see a little tighter crop on the bottom since there's no reflection. A little interest in the sky would be nice. I'd say that you did everything right in this photograph. The conditions are the only elements that aren't right on IMO.
I can only repeat Dominic's critique, Wayne. The shaded portion of the mountain is just too flat, and the peak is a little hot. Most of the really good images I see of scenes like this utilized a grad filter, or were a composite of two or more exposures. And clouds and reflections are always a bonus.

I'l go along with Bill and Dominic on this one, Wayne. It's a beautiful location, and I'm sure it was fantastic being there to see the light hitting the mountains (makes me want to go back!), but it's terribly hard to get the enthusiasm of the moment into a picture.
