One from last winter, Mike Lane joined me at my feeding Station in a private wood where I have been feeding since 1995, I usually feed once a week during the winter, where as Mike who is a full time professional was able to feed every other day which was great and the bird numbers at the feeders increased dramatically as a result. During one sesssion my WWS Dome Hide frame snapped as I was trying to erect the hide, not detered I decided to quickly rigged up a makeshift frame with sticks and branches. The birds weren't put off my my dodgy looking effort for a hide and just kept coming at one point I had C. 30 birds at the feeders at once including 12 Lotties (Long Tailed Tit's to you non birders) on one peanut feeder at once.
Blue Tit's have been done time and time again, Alan Williams has done them particularrly well over the years (go to www.nhpa.co.uk, in the search put "blue tit - alan williams" this will show some of his amazingly colourful pics)but they are such colourful loveable characters that they just cry out to be photographed. I always try to show something other than a bird on a stick in this case I positioned the bird high in the frame in order to show off some of the texture of the ivy on the gate post which Mike had put in as a prop (never did get the picture of the Robin on the snow covered post which I had in my minds eye)
