Just had a day at the Somerset Large Blue site, and it was great to see the butterfly there, not in great numbers, but when you think of the life cycle its amazing that it has come back at all...............

Nice to have both sexes for comparison, shame about the angle but you can't disturb them can you!!!

It's great to have this species flying again, must make a trip down to see them soon. :toast:

So they're back! Depth of field is great but some body movement or fill flash required. Still fantastic to see them.

Hi Stewart

Well done catching two together. I visited the site the other week and managed a couple of shots. Quite flightly but if you catch them resting they are very attractive (and rare) butterflies.

I am inspired to post one of my images.

cheers

Well thanks Sean yes do lets see another one, I have one with the wings open, but I am going back this week for another go at them, very helpful wardens there, they spent most of the day pointing me in the right direction..........

Hi Stewart

Yes the wardens are knowledgeable and helpful. I didn't manage to see one resting with it's wings open. I won't be able to visit again this year but it is something I hope to try for again next year. I feel an early morning visit would be most productive as hopefully the butterflies would be a bit more static.

cheers
