This is a macro of a freshly emerged Swallowtail butterfly Papilio machaon of the British subspecies britannicus. This species is now sadly restricted to the Norfolk Broads.

The light was shining through the wing allowing the underside pattern to show through faintly.

D70 180mm f16 1/2sec ISO 400 tripod, natural light and reflector.

Hi Clive

A good composition and an unusual abstract approach to the normal butterfly shots. Nicely done.

cheers
