Scottish Damsel
I have just had one of those infrequent (for me anyway) trips, when you leave with an image in your mind and return with it in your camera.
:jump:
This Blue Tailed Damsel (I think) was just devouring a tiny midge and was so engrossed in its meal I even had time to set up the tripod.
1DS2 & canon 100 macro, F8 @ 1/160, ISO 200, cropped a little from side to remove some vegetation.
Critique welcome,
Best wishes

Your ID is correct.... nice image in classic pose, perhaps a touch on the contrasty side? but great detail and sharpness...

Nice shot with good sharpness and detail - agree with Phil just a tad contrasty!

Would have a tarten pattern if it were true Scottish so must be a tourist damsel. Nice and sharp though, must be welcome if they're eating midges.

Hi Philip

Second post is better. I think some softer light would improve the image but you have caught some interesting behaviour in this shot with the Damsel tucking into it's lunch.

Nicely framed and good background.

Tried a few shots of these myself but yet to get anything I am happy with.

cheers

Sean
