Dominic Rossetti's excellent photograph of a daylily, reminds me to recommend that anyone liking flowers and visiting Houston, make time to visit Mercer Arboretum. Mercer has a daylily area with at least 100 different varieties and that are normally in bloom in late May through early June. Of course there are many other subjects to photograph in the arboretum as well. It is located just a few miles northwest of I-45 & FM 1960 in North Houston.
As you can see from this photo, I like to work in close. Tamaron 70-300 Macro @ ~200mm, 1/160 sec @ f/9.

Great details and textures. Like the tight crop. Where's OUR rain?!

Dick, you've captured the subtle tonality of the petals very nicely here. The water drops and saturated petals are very inviting too. I have been gravitating toward more closeup and macro work so I like this intimate look alot. Thanks for sharing!
