Heartland of America Park Small fountain w/2nd photo
Got to spend a day in Omaha yesturday, what a neat city... kinda like Portland in ways, a lot of neat things down along the water front (well, not as much as Portland, but a few neat things)

Spent 4hours at thier zoo, which was pretty cool, got some good shots there, many which you can't tell (or I can't) were at a zoo.

Did have a bit more fun than usual, as I found me a Seagull brand 6x6 Twin Lens Reflex camera at a camera shop, I had been wondering about them and thinking about trying them for a while, and seeing it in person and seeing what I was getting helped a LOT, alsot got a sekonic Flash/Light meter, for about $260 didn't know how nice it was till I started using it... DANG nice, wish I'd had one before now...

Anyways, I think the Seagull is helping me somewhat, if memory serves I composed this shot with it then reshot with dSLR, which was pretty much standard practice after the zoo... I got more shots I'm happy with than normal...

Anyways, this was a straight RAW conversion, at daylight balance, high contrast and saturation settings (Canon File Viewer) with a little shadow levels tweak and a couple USM's, so basically what was shot with a little sharpening...

makes me wonder what's surrounding this... thing... :) Kind of looks like the sculpture is spitting at the ugly concrete post...

Thanks Erik and Curtis...Esspecially for the welcome back ;) Don't know how long I'll hang out this time, I'm kind of flakey when it comes to online forums... But I seem to keep comming back to photography especially when summer rolls in ;). I think that's partly what I liked about this, not my usual... I think having a square format camera to play with at a minimum for coming up with compositions (fixed focal length too) it helped me acheive some totally different looks than what I've been known for doing in the past... I belive I did take a shot of this with the 6x6 TLR so hopefully it turns out, would love to see this from it, of course it will be lacking the polarizer :(

I'm including another shot with this, since Curtis said he wondered what was around... this was about the widest angle shot I took of this fountain, roughly same vantage point, different comp... The first image was shot on the right side of the column seen at the right edge of the frame (column included on purpose) I shot this at 1.5s shutter as well, but this darker image seemed more right to me, especially in the sky and water at the top of the fountain.

William, good to see a post from ya. I have to say this image doesn't grab me, but it does hold interest...That's a really cool fountain and I see how it caught your eye...I'm just not buying into that lightpost thingy...
