While I missed the Prothonotary warbler I was searching the local swamp for, I did get one quick shot of a lovely Palamedes Swallowtail [Papilio (Pterourus)palamedes] - Laurel Swallowtail. Amazingly, I managed to see it even with the dense cloud of mosquitoes circling me...looking for a spot not covered with repellent. Repellent, however, failed to prevent the stinging Io moth catepillar from protesting my sitting on him...Ouch!

Good advice! And great detail in this post. I like the environmental pose. The BG could be a little less prominent, but great job with the dark tone detail. The comp may be a little tight IMO. Nice post.
I don't think I've ever had an encounter with a stining catepillar (thankfully!), but this is really quite nice. I love the comp, though the bright light in the upper right might be toned down a bit. At least on my monitor, this seems to come off with a bit of a green cast. Was that your intent? Or are the colors accurate? Nice post!

Dick this is a very nice shot. I see some detail even in the darkest areas of the wings. I really like how the coloration in the spots on the butterfly's wings matches the surroundings.
Tim has a good point on the ur bright spot but I'm not seeing too much color cast on my monitor, it looks really solid. Thanks for posting!
