My weekly photo
This waterfall is one of two that are within a 35min drive of my house. I have made at least a couple dozen trips to these falls and have always found them difficult to photograph well. After a dozen or so rolls of 35mm and maybe six or so LF slides I feel this is my best one to date.

It was taken a little over a week ago. Since I have to send out the 4x5 to be processed and then scan; my weekly photo will always run at least a week behind. I do scan as soon as time allows, but time usually is a commodity I am always short on.

Very nice image, Robert, and a lovely waterfall. Is it named? It looks somewhat like Anderson Falls, although I've never seen it from the "other" side.

Love the green tint in the H2o!. I'd get back there when the rocks are wet!. Really nice exposure & speed for the water.

Danny, this is named Cataract Falls part of the Lieber SRA. There are two sets of falls and one covered bridge in the area and not much else. I personally find them both very difficult to photograph. I've spent so many hours here during both morning and evening hours and still this is image is my best and still not quite what I am looking for.

Jack, the next rain we have I'll try and make it back and maybe reshoot it. One thing you have to watch for here is that the rocks when wet are dangerously slick and I have slipped a time or two and ended up a little wet. Taking this image I was standing on the edge and a fall would be about 15ft or so in the water below

I'll post a couple others from this area I have taken that do not include the falls.

That is a very nice image. I really like the exposure time, it makes the water really silky yet retains enough detail.

Where is Cataract Falls ( Lieber SRA). Is there things to shoot in the summer months?

Thanks

Thanks for the kind comments, folks. I never get overly excited when looking at my own images. I may post this in the ESS gallery and see if it gets any comments.

Jack- the summer months around here carry lots of humidity making images with foliage in them look pretty dull to me, even on Velvia, I'm sure Ohio is similiar.. This was taking a couple weeks ago and so far this year the humidity has been mild, til the last couple of days. The whole park covers less than 100 acres I'd guess. There are two waterfalls. The one I posted and one known as the upper falls which is equal in size to this one.

As far as subjects I haven't noticed anything other than the falls and maybe the covered bridge. Like I mentioned I have been there dozens of times and never got any images of the falls themselves that really got me all worked up I just find them difficult to get that grab the viewer image. There are some interesting holes in the sandstone created from running water. I'll post a couple of them maybe tomorrow - I'm busy working through the holiday.
