Caught this bird singing its head off.
This bird allowed me some shots only to fly off after a few seconds.
I hung on and after a few more it returned to perform once again.
Taken from the car down a back road in North Norfolk.

A Yellowhammer? Quite a steep shooting angle Major but a great pose. I like the foliage and composition. Nice one. :toast:

Good shot of it belting out its song, steep angle but then I guess you had no choice. However, it is a very typical shot of how they are seen.

Agree angle a bit steep but probably not a lot you could do about that, still a nice image of a great looking bird..

Hi Major, I like the extremely open beak :toast:

BTW - I don't get the title, what does that mean ?

Hi Helge,

"A little bit of bread and no cheese" is a traditional english phrase which is used to describe the song of the Yellowhammer. If you say it the words quickly and rythmically, and then put a long stress on the "cheeeeeeeeeese" bit .

Hope that helps!

Nice shot Major - would have prefered without the leaf in front of it tho'. Would have been worth waiting around for a while to see if it returned yet again - I've always found they have a few prefered song perches which they travel around.
