How about a thread for wildflower conditions in Oregon? Clackamas hills above the Roaring River Gorge: disappointing; snow and waterlogged 2-3 weeks ago, now mostly dried out but few flowers, a few shooting stars, rhododendrons past prime at mid elevations (2500 feet??) but still emerging higher up, beargrass just coming in, paintbrushes just starting, tiger lilies blossoming at lower elevations.
I noticed a LOT of clusters of the little pinkish purple ones along the freeway from No Cal, all the way up to just south of Eugene/Roseburg area, there were clusters which were quite large, and spots where there werent many at all... the clusters were fairly spread out, but each cluster was fairly good sized....
A few white clusters, and others such as the little yellow weed looking suckers, but a LOT of the pinkish ones... mostly noticed about around 1400-2000 feet and the biggest grouping seemed to be somewhere around the Rice Hill to Canyonville area, though I forgot the name where I saw the biggest groupings, it was around that area somewhweres....
Everything was right along the freeway though, both sides, in the middle, etc.. course it's trees beyond that, so who knows whats off away... I don't recall ever seeing so many last year....
