On my way out through Kansas to visit friends in Denver, I stopped by Monument rocks. I was in the area last year when I shot Castle Rocks, but it was just too far out of range. This year, I had a few hours before dark to play around.

Hey Tim, I really like this comp. Of particular interest is the way you've captured the cloud line in the arch. Very nice. You know, I live in Kansas, maybe I should visit these someday!
Thanks for posting, good to have you back!
I think this is great Tim! The curvature of the bedding at the top of the frame really moves my eye thru that part of the image where the swallows' nests (?) are. And the technicals are perfect, as usual.
This is some really bizarre geology, which is always interesting to me. Got any more? Thanks for posting - hope you had a great trip!
Bill - yes, those are birds' nests, but I couldn't get a shot of them for ID purposes. They build little mud nests, and it was fascinating to watch them fly into them. Where there were several of them together, you'd see nothing but a little beak in each one. Really interesting. I'll work up another one later on in the week.
