A Tribute to New Mexico
I went to Chaco Canyon, New Mexico a little more than two years ago. I am headed to the Taos area soon, so I thought I'd post something from my last trip out West. I must say the form of Tim B's last post was a little inspiration for this one. I have always had a little difficulty with the editing on this one because of the initial DR of the RAW file. I always lost detail in the shadows to noise. The new Nikon Capture NX released in a trial form this week, and it has some pretty innovative editing tools, most notably the Control Point tool. Once I figured out how to use it, the results can be quite appealing. I recommend at least checking it out if you're inclined. Thanks for looking.

Very nice Dominic! I really like the comp, and the clouds are pretty cool too.

I'm curious about the age of these ruins - any idea? Thanks for sharing!

Nice work Dominic! Like Bill, I really like the way the clouds add to the ruins. The four corners region is one of my favorite areas, wish I could spend more time out there.

Bill, The Anasazi Culture in the Chaco Historic area dates back about 1000 years and disappeared about 700 years ago. There are five distinctive Masonry styles in the Canyon. The ruin you are looking at is Kin Kletso which was built in the early 1100s in the McElmo style.

I really like this, Dominic! Very interesting structure and textures. I especially like the way the clouds come out of the top. Thanks for posting!
