I wear glasses and this week whilst using the my 1d2 I quickly looked away from it and have managed to put 3 huge scratches across the LCD screen on the back of it with the corner of my glasses
I was hoping to trade my 1d2 in in the near future but now I'll just have to run it in to the ground as it's far from "near mint" now
I'm about to add a 5d to my camera bag and don't want the same thing happening to that so I was wondering if anyone knew of any sreen protectors that are available for purchase at all!?...I note that Nikon makes one for its D-series cameras and retail it for about £7 (wake up Canon)
Any help or advice would be sincerely appreciated!
LCD screen protectors
Developed to protect LCD screens against fingermarks and scratches, and to reduce reflections. Marked with horizontal and vertical lines to line up your images. Easy to apply and remove without residue. Pack contains three screen protectors for screen sizes up to 6 x 8.5 cm. £6.99
Still they don't look as impressive as the Nikon ones and i'm sure they'll leave a sticky residue all over the back of the camera when i try to peel them off.....still better than nothing..shame i didn't find them earlier...lesson learned protect your assets!!
I have been told for the 20D that the back cover for the LCD is just a piece of glass and can be replaced for about £10. I don't know if this is true or applies to the 1D2, but it might be worth checking! One of the approved repairers like Lehmans should be able to help.

Finally, Nikon has something better than Canon, just a shame it was nothing technological
Hi the screen is only a cover over the actual LCD, I have scratched quite a few of them in my time, especially when you forget to put the outer cover back on the back on your nikon body. The last one I had replaced was on my d1x the actual cover cost £8 for the part and 75 quid for the technician to put in ?.

I bought those stick on screen protectors from ebay (£7 each).
same weekend I seen the same thing in the pound shop (guess what £1).
you cut them to fit and i've had no problems, would say it looks better than the white plastic protectors.
I dont know if anybody here has used them?

I got my stick on screen protectors from Jessops. They leave no sticky residue and do a good job protecting the screen.
