Nice time of year for dragon hunting. I managed to add several new dragonfly species to my photo collection in the last few days. Here is a female Roseate Skimmer (Orthemis ferruginea). Photographed with a Canon 10D, Canon 300mm f/2.8 IS lens, w/2x extender and flash extender from tripod. Taken at Mercer Arboretum, north Houston, TX.

Dick, I think that web presentation may have gotten you here. I notice a fair amount of artifacts (even around your name) that are the result of downsizing I suspect.
I like the warm golden colors of this image alot, and the bg is very complimentary.
I'm viewing this at work on my laptop but the selective focus on the head seems to be interupted by the foreground wings. It would have been nice if the dragonfly would have been positioned so the wings didn't intersect the head and body. Looks like a great subject situated in tough shooting conditions. Just my $0.02 worth. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks, Wayne. Here is a second shot from a slightly different angle, I try to take several shots to aid in the I.D., two feet to the right and a green bush now provides a different background.

Dick I certainly like the head and eye as shown here and the green bg makes for some nice contrast to make the dragonfly really stand out. Thanks for the second look.
