Hi,
After looking on Warehouse at the tight fitting Neoprene lens covers made by LensCoat, which will cost about £69 to cover my Lens (500 F4) and £15 for the 2 extenders.
I decided to give Kevin a ring at Wildlife Watching Supplies, he makes simular Neoprene ones to order, but has yet to advetise them, the best thing is he says they are nearly 2 mm thicker which will give better protection, but only avalible in advantage wetlands colours at the moment which is the reed design. He has patterns and sizes for most lenes avalible.
Even better they are only £28 per set for the 500m F4, this price includes both the canon extender covers, a big saving!

I`m going down to see him anyway on Tuesday evening and will take my lens with me just to double check the measurements etc, as I want to make sure I`ve got a really tight fit.
The prices I`ve got came from an email I got off him yesterday.
Every thing I`ve bought off him in the past has been superb, so I`m looking foward in getting these.
I'd better drop him an email, see if he can do them for the sig 300 f2.8...

I've read a lot of comments about neoprene covers and how they protect equipment. However I'm also aware that Canon apply a white coating to reflect heat from their long lenses.
IMO wrapping a lens in 2 or 3mm thick neporene is only going to make the lens overheat in warm weather. My 500mm lens is 5 years old and hardly has a mark on it. The lens hood has camouflage tape on it. Less than £10 from WWS. If I need extra camouflage I just use scrim netting. It works for me. I save money and don't overheat the inner workings of my lens.
Brian,
Neoprene acts as an insulator. It keeps things cool as well as hot.
The neoprene covers do protect the paintwork, especially if you are like me and carry the lens uncovered everywhere......landrover, quad, bicycle, car, and occasionally on foot.
