Nice shots John. I especially like the second one, and the last one.

Two chicks -- what a treat! I particularly like the fourth one. Beautiful water too! Love the water droplets on the velvety neck.
What lens? Where you in a canoe?
"Our" loons have not nested for the second year in a row -- water levels too high!
At night it seems that yhey have been responding to a barred owl, they call to each other and then you hear the barred owl and the three go back and forth -- beautiful!
I was using both a Canon 10D & 20D that day. The 10D had a 70-200 2.8L. The 20D had the 300 4.0L. I was in a kayak. I have photographed this particular pair of Loons for the last 4 seasons and they tend to come up rather close.
The up and down water levels at Lake Massabesic wiped out most of the Loon nests this year. Will try to post more later.

Great shots!! I really like to job you did on the exposure. Tough bird in bright light and fantastic exposure. Great images!!!
Great work! The first one is my favorite. You've had better luck with loons than I this year!
